LogarithmsThe Common LogarithmTraditionally, log10 is abbreviated to log. For example, 103 = 1000 ⇒ log 1000 = 3 0.01 = 10-2 ⇒ log 0.01 = -2 However, some computer software, such as Matlab, use log to denote the natural logarithm. Both Matlab and Excel use log10(x) to denote log10.
