Signed Numbers

Harder Examples

These examples require an understanding of the order of operations (BEDMAS).

Click on the question marks to see step-by-step solutions to the problems below:

-7-4+2=-11+2=-9

-7-(4+2)=-7-6=-13

4-3*5=4-15=-14

(4-3)*5=1*5=5

20/(-4)*2=-5*2=-10

12*(-3)/(-2)=-36/(-2)=18

7+(3-(6-2))=7+(3-4)=7-1=6

Treat a fraction like a bracket:

-9/(-3+6)=-9/3=-3

Now click on the question marks below to see two more examples step-by-step:

(-2+8)/(6+9-3))=6/3=2

(5-14)/(-7+10)=-9/3=-3
